The haikus on the page

opposite were written by none other

other that Mr. Nick Carraway, Gatsby's closest

friend! So dear readers, let's try and dissect each haiku

one by one. Let's start with the top one: we have info from inside sources to suggest that the Buchanans had a bright green light at the end of their property, which is most likely the subject of this poem. This further confirms the theory that Gatsby was mad for Mrs. Daisy

Buchanan, the light giving him 'a gleam of hope'. In the second haiku, one assumes that Nick is talking about one of Gatsby's legendary West Egg parties, filled with friends and strangers moving together, anonymously. People who know Nick know that he is an introverted person and

this poem really shows that. The third poem is quite

an obvious and beautiful testiment to Gatsby's

remarkable & unforgettable character.
