PRODUCTS Suitable system for timber-frame construction joints The KonstruX fully threaded screw from ScrewPro is a single system ideal for all timber-frame construction joints. The screws can be used for timber engineering and carpentry, timber-frame construction, hall construction and construction of timber elements among others. The KonstruX fully threaded screws maximise a joint’s load-bearing capacity with a high thread extraction resistance in both components. If partially threaded screws are used, the joint’s load-bearing capacity is limited by the considerably lower head pull-through resistance in the attached part. The required edge and centre distances can be minimised for screws that are only exposed to tension. Doubling up of joists, for example, increases the load-bearing capacity of floor joists and reduces bending. Here, KonstruX fully threaded screws join the components together in a displacement-resistant manner. +27 (0) 21 845 4098 // www.screwpro.co.za Firm wood connector The Alumidi is a concealed beam hanger from Rothoblaas. The hanger is available with or without holes. The hanger is suitable timber-to-timber shear connections, both perpendicular and inclined to the vertical plane. It can be used for various types of timber including solid timber, glued laminated timber, cross-laminated timber and wood- based panels. In addition, optimal hole spacings are ideal for both timber (nails or screws) and concrete (chemical or screwed anchor). Versions without holes are available in 2 200mm long pieces with notches every 40mm. These can be cut on site according to the worksite requirements. +27 (0) 79 905 6577 // www.rothoblaas.com www.timberiq.co.za // OCTOBER / NOVEMBER 2019 47
