WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION BRAND MANAGER AT IAN FULLER AGENCIES? To create awareness of sustainable building and to grow the timber construction industry in South Africa with suitable sustainable products.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO ACHIEVE IN YOUR POSITION? WHAT HAVE YOU ACHIEVED SO FAR? I’ d like for Ian Fuller Agencies to become the industry leaders on sustainable timber construction as well as the leading product supplier for all construction-related timber products. So far, I’ ve been involved in numerous timber construction projects, including Hout Bay House and I’ ve co-ordinated several advertising / promotional campaigns and training seminars throughout South Africa.
I’ ve thoroughly enjoyed partnering with HWZ International and have had several successful product awareness exhibitions including stands at Cape Construction 2014, HWZ Wood Conference 2014, 2015 and 2016 and Interbuild 2016.
WHAT ARE THE MAJOR CHALLENGES, IN YOUR OPINION, THAT THE TIMBER INDUSTRY IN SOUTH AFRICA NEEDS TO OVERCOME?
The vast South African public needs to break free from the very traditional mind set of only building with bricks and mortar. Timber construction offers superior insulation, speedy construction, low C0 2 emissions and great sustainability when compared to other materials such as steel or brick.

construction sales side. I dived in head first and the construction division grew from strength to strength.
WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THIS INDUSTRY? The daily challenges and being able to make a difference to the building trade in South Africa.
DO YOU ENJOY WHAT YOU DO AND WHY? WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF YOUR JOB?
I love what I do! My favourite part of my job is finding timber-related solutions for the construction industry in South Africa.
WHAT IS YOUR WORK PHILOSOPHY? Two old quotes pretty much sum up my work philosophy:‘ The early bird catches the worm’ and‘ If you love what you do, you’ ll never work a day in your life!’ I’ m passionate about people and the industry, and I love what I do!
