WOOD FOR THOUGHT
WOOD FOR THOUGHT
Timber
inspirations to
get through the
last stretch
I
f you are reading this then you are probably
feeling exhausted and probably working hard to
wrap everything up for 2019 before going on that
well-deserved break. Don’t worry, this time of the
year is hectic for everyone. Hang in there, the finish
line is not too far off.
I came across an interesting article about the impact
that wood has on one’s health. In the article, titled
Wood construction reduces stress and offers a healthy
living environment, author Marjut Wallenius talks about
the psychological effects that wood has on people. The
article further explains that using wood has the potential
to promote the health and wellbeing of the mind and
body. Various studies were carried out in different
countries and the outcome showed that environments
that had elements of wood resulted in a drop in blood
pressure and had a calming effect. Not only does timber
construction make for beautiful designs and
architecture, but it also has a positive impact on
one’s health.
Having said that, I think the magazine landed on desks
and mailboxes just in time to bring calm to a lot of
stressful situations at the office. Even though your
surroundings may not be made from timber, I hope
that Timber iQ’s content draws you in to make you feel
like you are surrounded by all things timber. So, when
you get a gap, take some time to page through the
magazine and see what the industry’s been up to since
the last issue.
As always, happy reading and enjoy!
