CONTRIBUTORS - WOOD WORKS
Viceroy Maldives used a variety of timber for different
parts of the resort.
LUNAWOOD DECKING
Lunawood is an outstanding decking material
due to its stability and durability. Improved
insulation properties make Lunawood an
excellent choice for decking.
LUNAWOOD FACADE
Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa also located in
Maldives, is clad with strips and slats of Malaysian meranti.
Thermowood is an outstanding choice for
exterior claddings and facades. Thermowood
allows Scandinavian softwood to be successfully
used in hot and humid weather conditions.
SHANGRI-LA'S VILLINGILI RESORT
AND SPA, MALDIVES
At the Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa, Maldives,
Meranti was used for many interior timber works in the
resort. The giant central columns in the resort’s Fashala
Restaurant are clad with strips of meranti and the
screen walls are of meranti slats. All the timber works
were finished to a consistent lime-washed look and
feel, which binds all the disparate materials to provide
a harmonious and relaxed spatial experience.
