Atilano assures participants that their orga- nization is committed to the advancement of scientific research and knowledge and its application to the prevention and management of heart disease and stroke in hypertension and related CVDs in the copuntry during his welcome message at Novotel, Quezon City on No- vember 10, 2018 According to Philippine Hypertension Society President Dr. Alberto A. Atilano, they will strongly promote and encourage the advancement of scientific research and knowledge and its application to the prevention and management of heart disease and stroke in hypertension and related CVDs in the Philippines. Under the MOA, the Program shall focus on the objective of providing total CV risk assessment of hypertensive patients in the identified pilot areas for appropriate management or timely referral. The Program components shall consist of education and training information dissemination, service provision and health monitoring. Janairo added that the regional office will secure commitment from private hospitals and government corporations in the pilot areas to participate in the program. “We will review the Philippine Package of Essential NCD (PhilPEN) processes and areas for improvement to adapt a program appropriate for the participating hospitals/clinics”. Also stated in the MOA is the development of a training curriculum based on PhilPEN; establish baseline statistics/disease distribution in the chosen pilot areas; conduct PhilPEN Summit; train participating healthcare practitioners; implement the program; and monitor and evaluate the program. www.ro4a. doh.gov.ph 35
