Business SSS urges members to update contact details  Credit: sss.gov.ph SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc T he Social Security System (SSS) urged individually-paying members, including self-employed, voluntary members, non- working spouses, and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), to provide and update their contact information with SSS to receive their Payment Reference Number (PRN) via text message.  The Real-Time Processing of Contributions (RTPC) program, which requires the generation of PRN before paying, instantly validates, transmits and acknowledges contribution payment with the member's record in SSS. Upon payment of their contribution using PRN, members will receive notifications via SMS that their contributions have been posted.  “We strongly urge our members who are not yet registered in the My.SSS facility so they could generate their PRN online, to provide SSS their contact information for the issuance of PRNs via SMS. This way, they will be able to pay their monthly contributions and avoid delays in the processing of their benefit claims and other services,” SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc said.  “There are three ways to update their contact information. One is thru over- the-counter in any of the SSS branches nationwide. Two, thru My.SSS account in our website. Three, thru the SSS Mobile Application. We call on our members to also register in the My.SSS facility in the SSS website (www.sss.gov.ph) and SSS Mobile Application, so they could generate their PRN on their own,” Dooc added.  Earlier, the pension fund announced that members can pay their contributions without PRN as a response to the clamor of members who have difficulty accessing the Internet. But this is only limited to those who have not yet received any PRN before.  Upon payment without PRN, SSS will request members to update their contact information in the database. The member will then receive their PRN via SMS for their next payment of contributions.  There are 83,606 pensioners, 124,583 OFWs, 563,219 voluntary members, 7,005 household helpers, 4.13 million employed members, 225,057 self-employed, and 7,141 non-working spouses who are registered in the SSS Website and with registered email addresses.  Members can visit the nearest SSS branch to update their contact information by accomplishing the Member Data Change Request Form (SSS Form E-4), or the Member Information portion of the Payment Slip. To update the member's contact information online, a member needs to click the “Try My.SSS Beta” found in the SSS Website’s homepage; log in using his/her My.SSS account; click the “My Information” then the “Update Information;” check the box that they want to update; click “Next” then “Update” and save or print the Online Data Change Request form in PDF. The members can also update their contact information through SSS Mobile Application, log in using their My.SSS account credential; click My Information; click Update Information; click Contact Details and choose Mobile Number and submit. The SSS again reminds members that PRN can be generated in four ways: thru their My.SSS online account in the SSS website; SSS Mobile Application; thru the PRN inquiry facility of the collection partners of SSS; or thru any SSS branch nationwide. www.sss.gov.ph 62 SSS contribution collections jump by P22B in 2018 SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc Credit: sss.gov.ph S tate-run Social Security System (SSS) over the weekend said its contribution collections jumped by more than P22.19 billion in 2018 on the back of the aggressive collection efforts of the agency. SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel F. Dooc said members’ contributions hit P181.92 billion in 2018, up by 13.89 percent from the P159.72 billion recorded in 2017.  “We are very pleased that we have ended the year 2018 on a positive notch. Contribution collections comprised more than 86 percent of our total revenue last year,” Dooc said. Based on the unaudited financial records of the pension fund, total revenues of SSS reached P212.57 billion in 2018, registering a growth of 6.02 percent from the P200.50 billion recorded in 2017. Total expenditures of the pension fund, on the other, slightly rose by 5.33 percent to P189.84 billion in 2018 from the P180.23 billion recorded a year ago. Broken down, benefit payments contributed largely to the increase in total expenditures in 2018 with P180.08 billion following the adjustments in Employees’ Compensation (EC) benefits in the middle of the year while operating expenses barely increased to P9.76 billion from the P9.54 billion recorded a year ago. “As you can see, benefit payments was P9.39 billion higher than last year. Increase in the number of benefit claims rose by an average of 7 percent in the last six months of the year. The implementation of the EC benefit adjustment also contributed to the increase in benefit disbursements along with the release of the 13th-month pension of qualified pensioners and their dependents,” Dooc said. SSS, the administrator of EC claims for private employees, said more than P442.38 million was disbursed to 17,619 EC pensioners for the additional benefit of P1,150 starting on January 2017 until October 2018 including the 13th-month pension for the year 2017 and for the additional P425 carer’s allowance per month starting May 2018 to October 2018. SSS’ financial standing remained well-managed with total resources of P507.32 billion or P2.45 billion higher than the 2017 year-end level of P504.87 billion as of end-December 2018. “We hope to continue this growth in performance in terms of our collections this year. We are hopeful, especially with the passing of the SS Act of 2018, to continue to post growth in performance and further serve our members and pensioners quality programs and privileges,” Dooc said. www.sss.gov.ph
