Philippines to participate in the first China International Import Expo ( CIIE ) in Shanghai

P ersonally announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping during the Belt and Road Forum on May 2017 , the China International Import Expo ( CIIE ) will have its maiden show in Shanghai , China come November 5-10 , 2018 . It is a major international event that shows China ’ s firm support to trade liberalization and actively open the Chinese market to the world . CIIE is the only trade show in China to date which will feature foreign exhibitors , and no China companies on the exhibit floor . Further , China is expecting to import goods and services worth more than US $ 10 trillion in the following years , and this provides a historic trade event for enterprises worldwide to enter the huge Chinese market .

To seize this window of opportunity to promote Philippine products and services and be able to achieve a significant share of the China market , the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry ( DTI ), in joint undertaking with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( PCCI ), Philippine Exporters Confederation ( PhilExport ), Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization ( Philfoodex ), Inc ., Employers Confederation of the Philippines ( ECOP ), International Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines ( ICCP ) and the Philippine Silk Road International Chamber of Commerce ( PSIRCC ), takes the lead in organizing the biggest ever Philippine country participation in the forthcoming CIIE . No less than President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to lead the Philippine delegation .
The CIIE will focus mainly on importation of goods and services to China . The section of trade in goods includes 6 exhibitions areas : High-end Intelligent Equipment ; Consumer Electronics & Appliances ; Automobile ; Apparel , Accessories & Consumer Goods ; Food & Agricultural Products ; Medical Equipment & Medical Care Products . The section of trade in services comprises Tourism Services , Emerging Technologies , Culture & Education , Creative Design and Service Outsourcing .
To intensify Philippines participation to this expo , roadshows dubbed as the China International Import Expo ( CIIE ): Your Gateway to the China Market , were successfully conducted in Manila , Cebu and Davao generating interests from several exporters covering fresh and processed foods , agricultural products , handicrafts , home decors , jewelries and accessories ; real estate , education , among others .
Consultation meetings and sectoral presentations are ongoing to target other exporters located in the regions such as Bulacan , Pampanga , Naga , Baguio , etc . and to update potential exhibitors on the developments and arrangements on the expo . philippinechamber . com
