Maritime PCG, PCG Auxiliary exhibit air, floating assets capability through drills A s the national maritime search and rescue service of the country, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and PCG Auxiliary (PCGA) showcased its air and floating assets which have been instrumental in fulfilling its mandated functions within the maritime domain during the capability demonstration and sea review in connection with the country’s celebration of the National Maritime Week 2017 at H2O Hotel, Manila today, 25 September. Among the participating PCG and PCG Auxiliary assets were the 56-meter search and rescue vessel, BRP Pampanga (SARV-003); multi-role response vessel, BRP Suluan (MRRV 4406); Coast Guard Aviation Force PCG helicopter 1636; fast craft vessels; small boats; rubber boats; and rigid hull inflatable boats which demonstrated counter-terrorism, search and rescue, and firefighting drills which aim to further enhance the interoperability in responding to maritime incidents and further strengthen the agency’s capability in the performance of its mandates. The event was graced by representatives from the Maritime Industry Authority; National Mapping and Resource Information Authority; other agencies from the maritime sector and PCG personnel headed by the Exercise Director and Commander of the Coast Guard District National Capital Region-Central Luzon, Commodore Rolando D Legaspi PCG. As part of the culmination of the event, other pride of the PCG participated in the fleet sea review such as the Balangay boats (replicas of the ancient Philippine wooden boats) headed by its Expedition Leader, Undersecretary Arturo T Valdez and the PCG Dragon Boat Team which garnered number of medals through local, national and international competitions. coastguard.gov.ph 12
