Guard Service

REAR ADMIRAL WILLIAM M MELAD PCG
formally vowed out of the service today, June
21 2017, after rendering 32 years 9 months
and 11 days of service to the Armed Forces of
the Philippines and Philippine Coast Guard.
A traditional Testimonial Parade and Review was held
at the Bonifacio Naval Station Parade Ground in Fort
Bonifacio, Taguig City.

A Judan represented Atty. Arthur P Tugade in gracing the
occasion as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. Meanwhile,
Secretary Tugade praised RADM Melad for his dedicated
and selfless service to the nation during the testimonial
lunch.
RADM Melad is a graduate of the Philippine Military
Academy and a proud member of the prestigious

“MATIKAS” Class of 1983. He earned his Master’s Degree
in Maritime Safety Administration (MSA) from the World
Maritime University (WMU) in Malmo, Sweden.
Prior to his appointment as the Commandant, he
has commanded major units of the PCG. Among these
are: District Commander of Coast Guard District Central
Visayas; Coast Guard District Eastern Visayas in acting
capacity; Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog; Coast
Guard District Western Visayas; and Coast Guard District
Northern Luzon. He was also entrusted with positions of
major responsibility in the PCG such as the Commander of
Coast Guard Education and Training Command and as the
Chief of Coast Guard Staff.
He has also commanded three (3) Coast Guard
Search and Rescue Vessels which are the primary ship
for operations of the PCG namely: BRP San Juan
(SARV-001); BRP Edsa II (SARV-002) and BRP Nueva
Vizcaya (SARV-3502) where he earned the most coveted
Command-at-Sea Badge.
RADM Melad is a dedicated husband to his wife, Janet
Dolores and a loving father to his three children, Blessie
Regina, Wiljan and Anasvea Moira.
