Aground tanker vessel damages

/T John Nico, a tanker vessel owned and
operated by NBB Dragon Shipping and
skippered by Captain Antonio R Daseco
accidentally ran aground at the vicinity
waters off Sitio Dayap, Brgy Calima, Pola,
Oriental Mindoro last week.
Said vessel was loaded with 731.852
metric tons of industrial fuel oil and was underway from Subic

master of the vessel decided to take shelter at the Pola bay but
they were battered by big waves and strong winds.

On December 20, Coast Guard Sub-station Pinamalayan
personnel found out that the vessel was already extracted
from its position by an unnamed tugboat and sailed to an
unknown destination without the Coast Guard’s departure
clearance.
Consequently, Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog has
issued an apprehension alert to M/T John Nico for violating
HPCG Memo Circular 07-12 also known as the Pre-Departure
Inspection-Leaving the Port without PCG Clearance and
HPCG Memo Circular 05-12 or the Master’s Declaration of Safe
Departure.
