Our Shaliach ( Apostle ) Paul writes about this power of the Holy Spirit energizing him to accomplish his calling in stating that , “ For this I toil , struggling with all His I ( Yeshua ’ s ) energy that He powerfully works within me .” Colossians 1:29 . ( ESV ) Here Paul prayed that God would open the eyes of the hearts of the kedoshim ( saints ) at Ephesus so that they would be able to “... grasp the incomparably great power for us who believe . That power is the same as the mighty strength that He exerted when He raised [ Messiah ] from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms , far above all rule and authority , power and dominion and every name that can be named both in this age in and the next .” Ephesians 1 : 19-21 .
Yeshua ’ s final command to His disciples was wrapped in a promise . Just before His ascension He declared ,
“ You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem , Judea , Samaria and to the ends of the earth .” Acts 1 : 8 .
This promise solved the problem that faced the first disciples — the problem we all face today as Messiah ’ disciples asking , “ how in the world are we to advance God ’ s kingdom , to obey God ’ s laws and make disciples without Yeshua being physically with us ?”

We see this power at work throughout Scripture : the power of God energizing not only Moses our Teacher , but also his Hebrew elders in the desert , and in seeing the Spirit falling upon the judges of Israel , Gideon , Sampson , upon Saul and even David . Likewise , the Ruach HaKodesh ( Holy Spirit ) empowered our prophets Elijah , Elisha , Isaiah , Jeremiah , Amos and Hosea , and the Spirit God also promised to pour out upon all people in the last days , upon men and women , the old and even young . The Spirit that God continues to be poured out upon His people ( for both Jews and Gentiles ) whom He calls to come out of the world and to be His people .
Somehow , in all my years in the church as a member , as an elder , as a seminarian , and even as a pastor , I had not been taught about this treasure in plain sight . This treasure is necessary to fulfill the promise of Yeshua ( Jesus ) that we would be witnesses from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth .
