nevertheless been present in Episcopalian / Anglicanism and even Methodism through the Book of Common Prayer and various prayer book traditions.
Even a casual observer of the Book of Common Prayer can notice its stunning similarity to Jewish practices found in the Siddur. Daily Morning and Evening Prayer Services follow a similar pattern, with opening prayers in the Psalms( Pesukei D’ Zimra). Each day there are structured readings based on the liturgical calendar( Torah Cycle). The affirmation of belief with the“ Gloria Patria” vis-à-vis the Shema is not hard to notice.
Liturgy as a practice for believers in Yeshua certainly has a long history and should be an encouraged spiritual discipline, not disregarded as something non-spiritual or dead.
A Charismatic Appeal for Messianic Liturgy
Messianic Jews and Messianic Congregations are rooted in the life of both ethnic Israel and the Body of Messiah. We should be willing to freely, although carefully and thoughtfully, partake in both the liturgies of Israel and the Church. We also should strive to develop Yeshua-centric liturgies for our communities that are recognizable in form and pattern to the ones that have come before.
