To this the Pharisees responded questioning , will He ( Yeshua ) now kill Himself because He is saying that where I am going you cannot come ? In this Yeshua responded in verse 23 saying , “ you are from below ; I am from above . You are of this world [ but ], I am not of this world ,” to which the Pharisees attacked in verse 25-26 saying , “... Who are you ?” of which Yeshua both replied and corrected in questioning back , “ What have I been telling you from the beginning .”
Yet despite this correction , in verse 32 we are reminded of God ’ s promise that from Yeshua , “ You will know the truth , and the truth will set you free ” to which the religious leaders replied in verse 33 that they had no need of being “ set free ” since they were not “ bound ” in the first place .
From John chapter 8 , we are shown how both the Scribes and Pharisees , although trying to understand every revelation given by Yeshua , nevertheless does so by revealing to us an open door to their carnal minds . When Messiah communicates to them that they are slaves to sin ( 8:34 ), they respond by saying that they are children of Abraham .
They simply are not touching or understanding the revelations which Yeshua is trying to give to them about Himself .
