But prayer is much more than this . Prayer is also our entryway into a working dynamic and partnership with God . Adonai calls us to be co-laborers with Him in building the Kingdom of God and Yeshua uses our prayers to bring about transformation and change . God , in His sovereignty , has chosen to work through the prayers of His people , or as the Revivalist , John Wesley pointed out it ,
“ God does nothing except by prayer .”
From John chapter 15 , we find that our true home is found in Yeshua ( Jesus ), the true vine ( vs . 1 ) and we as followers and disciples of Yeshua are called to remain fully and completely in Him , and this is done through prayer as we daily seek to grow in relationship with Him . From the Greek , “ abide ” derives from the word “ meno ,” μὲνω meaning to remain , to abide or to stay and thus find our existence in Yeshua alone . It is through prayer that we as both Christians and Messianic believers can find our very purposes in life , and it is through prayer that we discover the keys to God ' s Kingdom !
Next , prayer is the communication key which unlocks and enlarges our relationship with Adonai . If we want to abide ( vs . 4 ) in the Messiah and grow within that relationship with Him , then we need to be people fully committed to a life of prayer .
This is best seen today with the rise of the Asbury Revival , where God ’ s people were seen crying out to God in prayer and worship and from that vantage point , God began to move in a new way and within a new generation for the sake of the declaration of God ’ s Kingdom and for the winds of Revival !
Growing up , I spent a lot of time staying with my grandmother . I loved visiting Granny ’ s house on Friday ’ s because that was baking day , and I got to help ! Looking back , I ’ m not sure I was in fact very much help at all . But it did build a relationship between my grandmother and me , and we eventually got a cake or cookies to enjoy .
It is the same way with prayer . On His own , God could do things faster and even more efficiently , but instead He chooses to work with and through us His children ! As we cooperate with Adonai and by the power of His Holy Spirit in prayer , we see the Lord bringing transformation to our
