3 . HOPE IS A CHOICE
Hope can also mean trust . It is a choice to trust someone . To choose to place our trust in someone , the person must demonstrate that they are consistent and trustworthy .
“ I have set ADONAI always before me . Since He is at my right hand , I will not be shaken . So my heart is glad and my soul rejoices . My body also rests secure .” - Psalms 16:8-9 TLV
God ’ s past faithfulness secures our hope for His promised future .
“ Through Him we also have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand and boast in the hope of God ’ s glory . And not only that , but we also boast in suffering — knowing that suffering produces perseverance ; and perseverance , character ; and character , hope . And hope does not disappoint , because God ’ s love has been poured into our hearts through the Ruach ha-Kodesh who was given to us .” - Romans 5:2-5 TLV
When we encounter God ’ s love , we become absolutely certain that He will not fail us . It gives us the courage to face hardship . Not that anyone enjoys suffering , but that suffering becomes possible because of our renewed hope . If you know people who go through suffering well , it is likely that they are also hopeful people .
He remains faithful to Israel , so He can be faithful to you .
He is faithful to His Word , so nothing can thwart His plans for you .
“ And now , O Lord , what else can I Kavah for ? You are my Yakhal .” - Psalm 39:7
Yeshua ’ s life , death , and resurrection was God ’ s unexpected response to the slavery to sin and death in the world . The empty tomb was what gave the disciples hope for everything Yeshua promised would come to pass . Sha ’ ul says that over 500 people saw Yeshua alive !
The release of the Holy Spirit on Shavuot / Pentecost further established this eternal hope within the believers . When we are filled with the Holy Spirit , it should also cause hope to well up within us .
