Tift County football players spearing tridents

Taylor Lawshea gets an embrace from Noel Dean for becoming the first Tift football player to join the 1,200-pound club . Squats , bench presses and deadlifts are counted towards the total .
Tift County football players continued their drive towards improvement , with head coach Noel Dean hosting a ceremony Feb . 17 that showed their dedication .
“ Our vision is relentlessly pursuing a culture of excellence ,” said Dean . The team has set goals , known as “ tridents ,” covering mind , body , heart and soul .
“ It ’ s a starting point to get better ,” he said . “ To have better we need to be better .”
Trident True Students of the Month were named in three categories : academics , commitment and character . A 3.25 GPA or better is required for academics . For commitment , it is missing 10 % or less of classes .
Academic honorees are Brock Harden , Damion Moate and Tyler Parker . Those recognized for commitment are Rylan Pearman , Taylan Morrow and Abraham Soto . Character merits went to Danny Freeman , Bryson Reade and Quinnard Walker .
