The National Park Service regularly seeks volunteers to help with a variety of park events and activities. Opportunities are available for volunteers to work during special occasions that last only a few days and seasonal positions that may be available for several months or more. A limited number of positions include lodging, although this sometimes consists of a campground space with free hookups for individuals to serve as campground hosts. Parks also often look for volunteers who can assist in visitor centers and give interpretive talks or lead hikes. Help with maintenance duties is also a major need for national parks.
