Emerging Young Leaders: Agriculture Day- April 2, 2025
Agriculture remains Georgia’ s # 1 industry, and our Emerging Young Leaders class recently had the exciting opportunity to experience it up close during a hands-on agriculture session.
The day began with a tour of Lewis Taylor Farms, where the students gained valuable insight into the entire agricultural process— from seeding and cultivation to harvesting and packaging. We extend our sincere thanks to Jessica Kirk for guiding the group through the farm’ s impressive operations and sharing her expert knowledge of sustainable farming practices.
Following the farm visit, the class traveled to the UGA Extension – Tift County office, where Regan Veal, ANR Educator, provided an informative overview of the Extension’ s role in supporting local agriculture and education. Regan also introduced students to the various positions within the office that contribute to advancing community outreach and agricultural innovation.
We are grateful to Jessica and Regan for dedicating their time and expertise to educate and inspire these emerging leaders, helping them build a strong foundation in one of Georgia’ s most vital economic sectors. n
