his may be every mother’s dream, but this may not be every daughter’s fantasy fulfilled. Styles change. Trends fade. Those old dresses... well, let’s face it. 25 years down the road, they just don’t hold fashion-true in most cases. Daughters want their "own" style. They want their day to be "their" day and not something borrowed from years past. So how does a mother preserve the memories of her beloved wedding dress while still seeing her hopes realized? A stylized session!

This all came about when a dear friend of mine recently asked if I would take some pictures of her little girl dressed in her wedding dress. She wanted to be able to preserve the memories while still being able to share the sentiment. creating a family heirloom with her daughter to be used years from now when she marries. They came over to my studio, and we decided to just have fun with it. We allowed her daughter to act as if she was playing dress-up in her mommy’s wedding dress. Then we added the mirror, and suddenly the mood became magical.

A little over an hour later, we had gorgeous images imprinted on my camera’s memory card, images that we would be able to transform into something so beautiful and priceless. My friend’s vision was to save these images to decorate at her daughter’s reception years from now when she marries. But, as for now, Mr. Bubbles the Bear would serve as

a stand-in husband-to-be.

This session was so touching. The love that this mother had for her daughter and the emotions that flooded forth, filling the air, was something that I wanted to make sure to capture. There is something that touches deep within a mother’s heart when she sees her daughter wearing her wedding dress. I could see it in my dear friend’s eyes. If this is a new trend to be started, then let it begin! The memories made just from this session will be something the two of them will cherish for a lifetime.
