The thing is, in the flurry of the wedding whirl really what’s love got to do with it? That, in reality, should be the most important, crucial, cherished essential of it all and oftentimes it’s the very thing that gets lost in the shuffle. No matter how happy you all are, big life events can be stressful. Tempers tend to flare, tears come quickly, and your loved one just doesn’t understand and can actually irritate you quite easily, along with everyone else. So here’s a little nugget to think about. Now is the time to take a moment and remember that the love is what opened your heart and made it possible for you to step out of your comfort zone into this whole new life your betrothed made happen. This is the person who is there for you no matter what. And that “no matter what” has absolutely nothing to do in the long run with coordinating flowers with cupcakes, seating charts or favors.

If you could step out of the big event prep for a magical instant and face each other and really ask yourself that important question way before you’re asked to say your “I do’s,” what would you say? Where is the love in all this mix? What do you love about each other? How does your loved one make you feel? What are you looking forward to the most long after the last slice of cake is eaten and the DJ has packed up and left? What’s love got to do with it? The answer is one word. Everything. So when you start making that humongous to-do list detailing every wedding thing under the planet, please put love (for yourself and each other) first and foremost. By adding it to your list, you are making sure you always have it at your disposal as a powerfully calming exercise that can center your emotions. Love takes precedence above and beyond any and everything else.

Remember, this is about the two of you and your love for each other. When you realize this with all of your heart, your perspective—and decisions—will be clearer.

Promise! Tina Turner would definitely dance to that fact for sure.
