The impressive late 19th Century stately home has been beautifully restored to a very high standard. It is set in 6 acres of peaceful wooded parklands with century-old trees and picturesque gardens. The property is located in the town of Soustons which is bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean with an incredible 200km stretch of golden sandy beaches (running from just south of Bordeaux down to the Biarritz and the Spanish border) and on the other side by a freshwater lake (5km x 2km) for sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and swimming, cycling, walking, horse riding, and much more. The largest pine forest in Europe encompasses the whole region with numerous cycle and walking paths leading to the lakes and outstanding golden sand beaches…we have a good selection of bikes, including children’s bikes for guests to use free of charge.
The town centre is in easy walking distance from the property as it is a level walk of 600 metres. It is a pretty town which has plenty of facilities for tourists and locals alike. There are 3 weekly markets in the town on Monday morning, Thursday morning, and Friday evenings. There is a French accredited water-sports centre on the Lake with catamarans, laser dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, rowing, and more, and all are available at a reasonable price along with professional instruction if required. There is an “accrobranche” / “Go Ape” facility for children and adults which is an assault course through the trees at the lakeside. You can also take a “gondola” styled boat trip across the lake with a guide and then down the waterway that links to the ocean through protected forest.
