Trinity Lutheran Church Council Meeting Minutes March 8, 2016

International Women’ s Day faith shared stories Devotion – Pastor Gabi
New Business Devotion sign-up sheet handed out Patrick Fennig’ s departure – will be leaving at the end of May. After Easter, Deanna and Natalie will begin to create the slides for the worship services. Patrick has a few friends that might be interested. This will be a paid position- maybe 2 people( 1 for Sat & 1 for Sun) and a few backup volunteers.
Old Business Annual Meeting Recap – David thanked Scottie for handling the Annual Meeting. 70 members present- attendance was a bit less( Nov 2015- 82 members present) 50 is required for quorum. February meeting was more of a celebratory meeting. Solar Panel Update – passed with 50 yea, 10 no, 2 abstained. Per Wally Jacobson they have $ 145,000 pledged. Summer is the goal to get panels installed. Trimming the trees this week in preparation for the installation. Music & Worship Staffing Update – Chris is doing a great job. Services have flowed nicely, very smooth transition. Chris is committed as interim Bell Choir Director through December and is open to staying longer, but not committed. Accompanists – Chris is responsible for arranging the choir accompanist which has been working smoothly. Saturday night and status of Greg Schairer – after many years of leading the Saturday night evening music Greg has asked to transition out of the leadership role, although still willing to play occasionally. He is flexible with his transition depending on his replacement. Worship & Music is having active conversations regarding his replacement. Dave & Mira are completely out of Saturday night service. Council Retreat Update – one day retreat locally with staff and Council, then an overnight with Council only this Fall. Scottie gave a rundown of the Primrose Studio and Tamaang Retreat Center options. Retreat will be held at the Primrose on April 9, 2016 from 9am-2 pm. Scottie will confirm with Primrose. Brenda volunteered to draw something up regarding food and beverages. Retreat Topics – volunteer coordination. April 16 is Property cleanup day
Reports President – Capital Campaign project committee’ s first meeting will be tomorrow night. They will discuss the project list, prioritize projects and make plans for starting the first projects. Vice President – No further report. Secretary – Jodie made Motion to accept the Minutes, Brenda seconded the Motion and it passed unanimously. Treasurer – Currently we are in the black about $ 21,000. Fellowship working on $ 77 profit. Capital campaign balance is $ 187,140 after all bills and most campaign expenses paid. Dick made a Motion to approve the Financial Report as printed, Dave Nance seconded the Motion and it passed unanimously. Pastors – gearing up for big Holy Week and Easter. Looking ahead – the Holy Land trip is scheduled for April 10-28. Approximately 40 people attending( 20 from here & 20 from Chicago). Another potential Holy Land Trip may take place next January with the Berkley Seminary. A new and returning members’ workshop is set for April. Kelli Karst will be addressing milestones First Communion class and Lord’ s Prayer( younger kids to learn the Lord’ s Prayer). Pastors thanked Steph, Brenda, Kelli and Kevin as things are running smoothly from their perspective. Audio / visual system to partially phase out bulletins – will have some bulletins available for the ones who may want them. Will make an announcement regarding cutting back on printing bulletins. Perhaps a trial run for the Saturday evening outline( order of service) and maybe slowly move it to the 10:00 Sunday service. Announcements would continue to be handed out. Suggestion was to post the Asst. Lector, etc. on bulletin board. Maybe incorporate announcements and outline together. Will likely address this in the summertime.
Brenda made a Motion to adjourn meeting, Steve second. Adjourned at 8:19 p. m. and closed with Lord’ s Prayer.
