The Emaus Association is based in Altea,
Alicante and is one of the longest registered
NGO’s in Spain. It was founded by Francisco
Nadal and named as a public utility by the
Spanish government just one year after it began
– that was 35 years ago! The association cares

for orphans, abused and battered women and
their children, children with disabilities, and also
pensioners, regardless of religion, race or creed and only wanting to care, help and protect the
needy of our society.

Montse Fiter, President of the association recently said, “Having been continually let down by the
Valencian government, and with the threat of closure on our doorstep we have been forced to take
things into our own hands hence the setting up of our new user friendly ‘euro a month’ donation
page. We know it’s a difficult time for most people with the current financial situation of the country
but we are pleading with the ex-pat community to once again help us out. Can you afford to donate
just one euro a month? I have said many times, if it wasn’t for the help of the foreigners here in
Spain then the Emaus Association would have died long ago.”
€uro A Month
The association now has a new ambassador, Janine Duvitski, for their campaign.
Janine, well known for her role as Jacqueline Stewart in the hit comedy TV series Benidorm, has
agreed to do all she possibly can to help promote the association’s new donation website
www.euroamonth.com and she is pleading with companies to help out by making a regular
monthly donation to ‘euro a month’ in return that the company will be marketed alongside the new
high profile donation site.
