Accepting Karl’s outstretched hand she allowed him to lead the way into the café bar. They sat there for the next half hour sipping cups of pure Columbian coffee, neither really speaking but both at ease. Karl and Jill walked back to their cars hand in hand, in silence; Jill savouring the tender kiss that they had shared earlier, wanting it to happen again. ‘Can we meet again?’ asked Karl. ‘I have really enjoyed being with you tonight.’ ‘I’m not sure whether we should go ahead and make another date or if we need to do it through the dating club, but yes, I’d like that,’ said Jill. Feeling brave, she stood on tiptoe and kissed him on the cheek. ‘Thank you for a lovely evening.’ Jill permitted Karl to draw her close and kiss her once on each cheek as was the custom in Spain. ‘Actually,’ Jill said. ‘Are you free to tomorrow evening? We could meet here again, at 8pm if you want to?’ Jill didn’t want the opportunity of seeing him again pass by. She wanted to get to know him better, hear his story, realising that for most of this evening all they had done was talk about her. And now she wanted to know about him. ‘8pm tomorrow is just fine. Thank you, Jill. I had a splendid time tonight. Lekker.’ ‘Lekker?’ whispered Jill. ‘Oh I’m sorry, a slip of the tongue. Lekker is Dutch. It means “nice”. Tonight was really nice, and I enjoyed being with such a beautiful English rose,’ he said as he lifted her hand to his lips and kissed it. ‘And now I have tomorrow to look forward to. Take care on your journey home.’ Within minutes they had both departed the car park heading in opposite directions. Jill drove carefully knowing she had quite a distance to cover to get home. It was late and she felt tired. Her mind was full of the tall Dutch man. He really was a gentleman, she thought, and when he kissed me, ooh . . . I could easily get used to those lips . . . those two lips from Amsterdam! 965 698 082 El Campello Christian Community YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN US We meet on the 2nd & 4th Sunday each month at 5pm in the hall beside Meson/Pueblo Espanol Avenida Almadraba El Campello For songs, talks, discussions and more… And We meet every Thursday at 11am at Vanessa’s coffee bar (opposite Lidl in Campello) for coffee and chat We would love to meet you Food Served Daily Monday – Saturday Sunday 09:30 – 16:00 10:00 – 14:00 What’s On Live Sport / Football Daily Tuesdays Darts 20:00 Wednesday Bingo - eyes down 20:00 T
