literacy

Greetings Beautiful Readers,
Did you know that you can use your library card to explore aquariums,
museums, theatres, and zoos throughout California? Discover & GO is a
partnership between libraries and cultural venues that seeks to introduce and
provide access to many Bay Area cultural attractions and museums that people
may not otherwise experience. The Discover & GO program was launched in
2011 by Contra Costa County Library, to provide “greater access to culture both
inside and outside of the library.” Currently, there are more than 40 libraries and
cultural venues who partner to offer free and discounted passes to library card
holders.
How it works
Visit discoverandgo.org. Select your home library from the list of participating
libraries. Enter your library card number and your last name, pin number or
password. Next, view the list of venues that are available through your library
system. Access to cultural attractions varies from library to library. For example,
the venues that are available with an Oakland Public Library card may differ
from those that are available to a Sacramento Public Library card holder. There
are two options for selecting your next adventure. 1) Click a date and available
venue passes are listed. 2) Search by venue, choose from available dates,
select a date. Reserve and print your pass. Some libraries also provide
recommended reading lists for select attractions. Enjoy your next adventure!
