Summer Learning Resources
To keep children engaged in reading and learning during summer vacation, try
these resources:
2014 Summer Reading List
Book lists compiled by The Association of Library Services to Children for children
in grades Kindergarten to 8, based on recommendations from young readers.
As you know your child’s ability best, choose books that are most appropriate.
Reading is Fundamental Monthly Calendar
Use these activity calendars for suggestions to keep children ages birth-15 years
engaged during the summer and beyond.
#virtualbookclub
With your child, make reading a social event by joining the monthly book
discussion group that meets on Twitter, the third Monday of each month. Most
of these titles are recommended for children in grades 3-7.
Sync Young Adult Literature
Through August 20, 2014, download two complete and free audio books. Each
week, a contemporary Young Adult title is paired with a classic based on a
theme. These books are most appropriate for children ages 13 and older.
It takes a village to raise a reader. Please share the message with the adults
and children in your life.
