The Flyer Bury St Edmunds MRC ‘Meet the Modellers Day’ On Saturday 9th March 2019 we held our ‘Meet the Modellers Day’ at Fornham Saint Martin Village Hall on the outskirts of Bury St. Edmunds. Lots of club members were in attendance, some of whom showed off their railway modelling skills, including DCC programming of locos, kit building and electronic circuit building and repair. Colin attracted interest demonstrating his remarkable skill of scratch building scale models of vehicles from thin plasti- card (Hmm….perhaps a subject for a future article!) Two N Gauge exhibition layouts were on show, the Club’s Peckston (ably controlled by Stan, Phil, Tony and Bill) and the two Simon’s ran Foxhollow (owned by Simon Fox). Frank and Barry of the Cobbolds Wharf 10 team brought along a section of this still under construction S7 layout, along with a short section of 0 Gauge test track We had a higher footfall than last year’s event due to more planning time and better advertising on Facebook, the club’s website, railway modelling forums and the article published in the March edition of this very magazine, ‘The Bury Flyer’ which prompted several visitors to come along. It was especially pleasing to see the several families who brought along their children, some of whom were as young as 3 year’s old. A massive thank you to those who attended. We hope you enjoyed what you saw and your support is much appreciated. Our next Public event celebrating our 70th year since the club was formed will be our annual exhibition on Saturday 28th September from 10am until 4pm at Thurston Sixth, (Beyton Campus), Beyton, near Bury St. Edmunds. The Club meets weekly on Thursday evenings. Further details about the Club can be found on our websitewww. burystedmundsmrc.com, along with any updates.
