FROM GUY ’ S

PERSPECTIVE

1,000 miles – no big deal . Maybe it ’ s not but I had a lot of weight on my shoulders , truth be told , when I told Sloane ( Indian ’ s marketing person ) my plan for the Tribute Ride . I couldn ’ t have told what the inside of our Indian Scout looked like or if I really had enough parts to put these old bikes together or what riding a 65 year old bike was actually going to feel like . I just wanted to see it come true . Eight months putting the pieces together with less than two months to go , the fi rst bike ( Wanda ’ s ) still hadn ’ t been tested . Wanda ’ s ’ 49 Scout got a four mile run two weeks out . At one week out we rode both bikes twenty miles – mine with no fenders ! My fatherin-law would have lost his bet . He told Wanda that I might get one ready but will lose interest and not fi nish the other . I feel good about the build , I feel good about the route and the stops , but I feel best about sharing the ride with family and friends . I have seven brothers and sisters and they all were part of this tribute ride . I want to thank our new friends we have made at OKC Indian – Scott and his daughters . Their smile said it all when we rolled in on our Indian motorcycles . Chad at the Tulsa Indian stop
( 5th Gear Cycle ) provided us
Paybacks , right ? When he just
with a loaner if one of the older ones broke down . I wanted to at least fi nish the ride on an Indian ! Justin and Joe defi nitely put out
started out riding 250 ’ s it was all he could do just to get it started and as soon as it was fi red up I would hit the kill switch . So at
the welcome mat . Gerald with
990 some miles he drives by
the Seaba Station Motorcycle me and twists the key stopping
Museum – sorry I planned and printed we would be there
me in my tracks . Dennis , my other nephew that rode , spent
on Wednesday – thanks for

of
hours
building
opening up on your only day off . Jim with Second Kick Motorcycle Museum joined us on his 1940 Indian Scout .
It wouldn ’ t have been a story
up an Indian TT Warrior . It all came together in the end . Three old Indians , friends and family made just another chapter in this motorcycle story !
