COVER BIKE STORY AND PHOTOS BY ASHLEY WRIGHT When Landon “Rammrito” Ramm purchased his 2005 Yamaha Midnight Star, the guy couldn’t even ride! But he had heard all of us talk about our love of riding and the rides that we had done and he had to get involved. He found this bike in Moore and asked me to come with him to test ride it. After the test ride, a deal was made. I rode the bike, which came to be known ““El Cholow ,” to his house. He rode it around his 22 Thunder Roads Magazine neighborhood to get comfortable with its handling. He then put in around 100 miles of highway riding and decided it was time to make it more his style. The way “El Cholow” sits today is much different than the way that he put it together the first time. The first thing he did was get rid of the drag bars and put on the 18” ape hangers. They are tall! But they fit Ramm like a glove. Next to go was the exhaust. Stock canisters were replaced with long shots. Then he designed a seat for me to tool up and lace, powder coated a few parts and had Mik stripe the sheet metal. It was finished for the first time about a month before Bikes, Blues and BBQ. So he put in another 200 miles or so and we drug him to Arkansas. His love of riding began even though he was not just real excited about the curves and cliffs on the mountain roads!
