EVENTS
RIDE TO REMEMBER
By “T” Collier
This year was the 9th Annual Ride To
Remember for Oklahoma City National Memorial
and Museum. These 3 photos are my favorite of all
I captured. First one is a man and his child knealt
praying after placing a wreath on one of the 168
chairs. Second is one I caught as I was leaving the
park. This is Bob Osmond. He was parked next to
me along 5th street outside the Murrah Memorial
Park. He was the Midwest City Police Captain
when the bombing occurred. He wrapped this bike
trailer with his story and experience of the events
following the explosion. Lastly, this photo of the
riders posing for a group shot just spoke volumes
to me as their images reflected in the wading pool.
Their presence today allows the National Memorial
Museum funds to keep their doors open so that
we may never forget. The picture that is not here
is the one I didn’t take but will always remember.
The image I took with me as I stood among the
chairs listening to the brother, Cody Farmer, and
widowed husband of bombing victim, Frankie
Ann Merrell, as they recalled where they were on
the morning of the bombing and the tragic days
following. My prayers are with the survivors and the
victims’ families and friends as they pass through
life without those they love due to the selfishness
of one man’s idea of how his government should
be ran.
We thank those who attended the ride. David
Dunn and his team of giving men and women
who create this ride, were only 10 riders shy of
breaking a Guinness Book Of Records for the
largest charity poker run. Looks like it’s time to
start planning to attend the ride next year, bringing
a friend for the Tenth Anniversary and possibly a
record breaking year! For more photos and a video
