SISTERHOOD
2014 EXPERIENCE

based on shared conditions, experiences, or concerns.
I’ve
experienced
this
definition of “sisterhood”. I’ve
shared conditions, laughed
over experiences, cried over
concerns. After five years of
leading a women’s ride out of
Tulsa, which had grown from
13 women the first year to 139
women registered in 2013, this
year’s women’s ride offered a
1,456 mile ride to Denver, Colo.,
to the First Annual Steel Horse
Sisterhood Summit. The 12
women who rode the long road
to the Summit this year, will
never forget their experience.
For some, it was another
opportunity to do a long road trip
with like-minded women riders
who enjoy the open road on two
wheels. For others, it was their
first long ride with women only.
And a few, who normally ride as
passengers, drove the chase
vehicle to join the fun and take
care of logistics on the five day
trip. But what happened in that
five days, changed most of them
forever.
As most of you know, I don’t
pass up offers that challenge
myself and/or other riders to get
out of our comfort zone and take
a ride or an experience we’ve

never dreamed of conquering.
In the dead of winter, when the
phone call came in from Lady
Road Dog, Joan Krenning, with
a challenge to gather and lead
the largest organized group of
ladies to the First Annual Steel
Horse Sisterhood Summit in
May, I couldn’t wait to get started
on this adventure. I knew from
our talk, this was going to be
the beginning of an incredible
journey for women riders around
the globe. And that it was!
I realized quickly I couldn’t
make it possible without the
support of sponsors in order to
make the trip safe, affordable and
rewarding for each rider. Thank
