DO I HAVE A SERVANT’S HEART?
There is a saying that you never see a servant’s
heart until he is asked to serve. It’s how we react
when we are treated as a servant that shows our
true heart. We all say we want to serve, but do we
really? What I do with urgency that I don’t want to
do is how I judge myself. The difference between
a slave and a servant, I believe, is all in your heart.
Job 7:2 As a servant that earnestly desireth the
shadow, And as a hireling that looketh for his wages:
Do we seek his Will and desire to serve or are
we looking forward to our rewards here on earth
SERV’ANT, [L. servants, from servo, to keep or
hold; properly one that waits, that is, stops, holds,
attends, or one that is bound.]
1. A person, male or female, that attends another
for the purpose of performing menial offices for him,
it who is employed by another for such offices or for
other labor, and is subject to his command. The word
is correlative to master. Servant differs from slave,
as the servant’s subjection to a master is voluntary,
the slave’s is not. Every slave is a servant, but every
servant is not a slave.
Serve willingly with a gracious, loving, obedient
heart. Remember Jesus came not to be served but

Gal_1:10 For am I now seeking the favor of men,
or of God? or am I striving to please men? if I were
still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.
Php_2:7 but emptied himself, taking the form of
a servant, being made in the likeness of men;
2Ti_2:24 And the Lord’s servant must not strive,
but be gentle towards all, apt to teach, forbearing,
Tit_1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of
Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect,
and the knowledge of the truth which is according
to godliness,
Phm_1:16 no longer as a servant, but more than
a servant, a brother beloved, especially to me, but
how much rather to thee, both in the flesh and in
the Lord.
