that ride I stayed for my elder biker friend’s funeral
escort and farewell services.
I came home and did more riding on my Harley,
naming it Thunder. This year in May, the month of
my first riding anniversary, I went on a three day
ride in AZ/NM. It was the 12th annual Navajo Hopi
Honor Ride (NHHR). I hauled my bike there and
rode all three days to honor the Gold Star and
Blue Star Parents. I met many of my Facebook
friends as well as new friends at every stop. All the
riders were kind and had respect for other bikers.
After that last day, some rested for a couple of
days, but I rode everyday with friends. After the
two day rest, the NHHR geared up for the long
ride to DC. I rode all the way back with them as
far as my home here in Moore, OK. They were
coming back through in a week, and when they
did, I offered to treat them for a meal and rode
with them out of town. It was again a sad moment
to have to leave my biker family.
My next long ride is coming up here in a week,
the Dakota ride. Also in August is the Wounded
Knee Ride. This is my one year of riding journey
and hope I ride ‘til I’m an old lady. “Believe in your
dreams!”
