Editor’s Note: We recently sent our photo
journalist Meghan Norton of Prairie Tales
Photography to the Lazy E Arena to shoot some
shots of the inaugural Midwest Sand Sports
and Off Road Expo. The line up of vehicles and
booths was quite impressive. While checking out
the machines, Meghan captured a few interesting
facts on some of those who participated. Following
are the photos and comments of those she met.

Jimmy Smith of Potosi, MO has been racing 2
years. He built his rock racer after his wife bought
him a tube bender insisting it would be a great
hobby. He races Southern Rock Racing series
and has enjoyed some good payouts. Gear Head
Productions is their promotions company.
Jimmy says his vehicle has about $40K in
it with an ISP state of the art seat ($2K)... 685
HP, 408 Stroker with a 400 Turbo, Hero Transfer
Case, Custom 14 bolt front & rear with 2” Fox
Coils and 43” Stickies from Kenny Forbes Tire in
Caldwell, MO. He once did a cartwheel on the trail
and never even got a scratch on him--however, he
had a 4” axle bend that stuck out a foot!
Kimberly Trejo is from Weatherford, TX. She
drives a Polaris Razr 1000. She designed her
own wrap and uses SSI decals. She races with
her husband (who has his own vehicle and they
race against each other). She has been racing
