FEATURES “THE RIDE OF A LIFETIME” Article by: Ed Thompson, Larry Fisher and Rick Tyler. This ride started out as most things do, as an idea. “Hey, let’s take a ride this summer to Glacier National Park.” It started out pretty ambitious knowing it was going to be a minimum of 3,600 miles round trip. Then, as time passed, we thought since we’re going that way anyways….well you know how things go? As time got closer to the actual go time, we said, “we’ll just go and every day for itself.” There were four of us that actually committed to make the ride: Ed Thompson, who owns Creek County Cycles, Rick Tyler, Larry Fisher and Ron 20 Thunder Roads Magazine of OK/AR Sullivan. We would meet at Ed’s shop and look at the map. The ride changed every time we met except the main goal: Glacier National Park in Montana. The day, August 2nd, came at last. We tied down everything we thought we might need, and then some, on our bikes. We met at Ed’s house and left out at 7:00 A.M. It was a mild day and a good day to be on a Harley! We headed down Highway 412 toward the panhandle of Oklahoma. Knowing this would probably be the hardest part of the trip, we rode as hard and as fast as we thought we could get away with. We were stopped by a Trooper outside of Woodward and we all got warnings for doing 72 in a 65mph zone. He was a great guy and actually joked with us about being the “Wild Hogs.” He even took pictures with us and said, “You know, the cop in the Wild Hogs was gay? Well, you aren’t getting a picture of a gay cop!” The mild day began to change as we got closer to Guymon. The wind
