EVENTS HARLEY-DAVIDSON WORLD LADIES GARAGE PARTY Article and Photos by “T” Collier I was honored to get a call to be the guest speaker at the Harley-Davidson World Ladies Garage Party. I’ve been to a few of these garage parties, but this was the first time that I’d been asked to speak about my adventures as a woman rider. I enjoy sharing my love of riding with any crowd, but to share it with like-minded women, is an extra treat. When going into it, my biggest hope is that I can encourage anyone who’s never ridden to give it a try. (Of course, I highly recommend a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Beginner’s Course for anyone who’s not had it.) And for those who have 10 Thunder Roads Magazine of OK/AR ridden a while, I encourage them to stretch their horizons. Many women ride alongside their male counterpart without ever taking solo rides or long distance rides. There’s a wealth of adventure in going it alone on the open road or I encourage them to take a trip with other ladies. There’s nothing that can make shopping any better than to do it on a motorcycle with a bunch of other ladies! This Garage Party covered several topics and subjects. Ladies were broken into 3 groups and rotated around the showroom to learn tips from properly packing motorcycle luggage, to selecting a bike to picking out parts, accessories and chrome for your ride. This was geared to women riders whether you ride your own or as a passenger. Everyone learned tips that can help them on the road. From the showroom, we moved into the Garage! In the garage area, we learned how to properly pick up a fallen bike from the ground without injuring ourselves. Next, ladies were encouraged to ride on Harley’s Jumpstart. This is one of the coolest inventions ever. For anyone who hasn’t ridden, they are fairly to greatly intimidated by the combination of balance,
