HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE GRAY GHOST M / C

BY : Jennifer Dugan
Love , Loyalty , Respect , and Trust . The words most bikers live by , but for some its more than words . it ’ s a way of life . Love for God , your country , your brothers , and your patch . Loyalty stands for loyalty to your brothers and your patch . Respect is earned not just given . Show respect you get respect . Trust is having total faith and confidence in your brothers and sisters and in knowing that you can trust them with your life and they know they can do the same . After spending time with this club I can honestly say I see these morals and beliefs shine in their members .
To understand Gray Ghost today , you have to know where they came from . They were founded September 4 , 1994 in Shreveport with only 6 members . This biker community never thought back then , that they would last a year much less 22 . The club was originally going to be named Southern Knights . After great debate they came up with the Gray Ghost . ( Named after Col . John S . Mosby whom was a confederate Calvary officer in the civil war .)
Nicknamed the Gray Ghost for his ability to move in and out from behind enemy lines and go unnoticed . Once founded , the remaining members of the white
eagle motorcycle club Founded in the mid 40s handed over their own club house to the Gray Ghost for their own use and as long as they remain a motorcycle club , making Shreveport the official mother chapter of the Gray Ghost with multiple chapters threw out the state . They ’ ve had their ups and downs as does any one club , but I think time can tell it best , 22 years later they ’ re still standing tall and proud .
The loss of a lifetime member John Frank ’ s this year has left a mark on this club , and a tear in the hearts of all that knew him . The perseverance and camaraderie they share is some of the many things along with love Loyalty Respect and Trust that have held these men together for 22 years . I have no doubt that these will also be the things that build a future legacy for the oldest support club in Louisiana . So from myself , the owners , and the staff here at Thunder Roads Louisiana magazine happy birthday Gray Ghost Motorcycle Club .!!
