LET THE RACING
BEGIN! Written by Red
It’ s here! Burnt rubber, gasoline, the sound of engines roaring, and crunch time for multiple last minute bike parts. The 2017 racing season is among us!
Let’ s recap … last year Cy ended the season on a 2013 Vrod placing 2nd at Gulf Port, Juiceman`s season was hit and miss with tons of bike issues while racing locally, but ended the season in 4th place with the AMRA circuit, Merch took Gulf Port and made everyone stare in wonder taking home 1st place with his night Train, and let’ s not forget the 2 jr racers that stole our hearts as well as the lanes, Fast Jax and J-Mac.
2017 holds a lineup that blows last year out of the water! With more racers, new bikes, more at stake, and racers getting a little more serious this season they’ re leaving it all at the finish line for“ No guts no glory”! With Cy and Juiceman pairing up to run the AMRA circuit, Cy will still run the 2013 Vrod, keep your eye on him as I predict this year it will be a battle for Merch to hold his title for 1st place in Gulf port. Juiceman is returning this year with a big surprise for his competition, running in the super comp class with a 113 cubic inch motor running speeds up to 165 miles per hour. Merch will return with the night Train and also has a few surprises of his own with a second bike and a whole other class to compete in. Rockstone will continue into the race season with the pro fuel and nitro funny bike. But this year I’ m adding a few more racers to the mix. Fast Eddie from little Rock Arkansas will be racing his 1987 FXR in the E. T. division. I’ ve been told that he will be slamming threw the circuit and guarantees to give Cy and Merch a run for their money this year at Gulf Port and we will see Barry Guillory this year making a huge come back in the Hot Street class, as well as Kyle Leblanc who is no rookie to the track, with over 20 years of racing under his helmet he is coming into the season racing his bike with a S and S SA motor in the Pro Modified class.
The Jr race team is coming this year with a lot to prove as Fast Jax broke his record and that 50 mph mark this month with a 208 cc gas engine, his dad told me that some modifications have been made to the bike and we should be seeing this very young man going faster and faster this season. J-Mac will be coming back with a 400 cc engine and their ready to hold on to the lanes this year.
One thing is sure, this year we have tons of local men and women ready to put on a show and leave it on the tracks. Remember if you can still hear your fears, just a shift a gear!
