I’m going to give this my best attempt to write about my son, Chosen Michael Washington. His life and his recent tragic death. I will be brief and try not to vent, or display too much anger, and most importantly, not use this publication to emotionally grieve to the public. There is no way possible to write something perfect, so if you decide to continue please bear with me. My son was bi- racial and by all appearances, never seemed to struggle with it. To me, it was as if he enjoyed being his own unique man. Obviously, in the world we live in, he was influenced in all directions, but never conformed to any of the venom that surrounded him daily. He rejected and hated the “thug life”. He didn’t cuss, smoke, do drugs, drink alcohol, or insulted anyone. When available he would help us work motorcycle benefits, photo shoots, and jump on the road crew with us traveling the state. He articulated and communicated very well with all ages of the biker community. I received many compliments on his social skills, and the fact that he was respectful without kissing anyone’s ass. At 17, he graduated at the top of his class, and instead of USING his minority status to gain government assistance for a future, he decided to serve his country in the Army National Guard while pursuing a college degree. After graduating from boot camp, he returned to his home town of St. Martinville, La., focused, and with high aspirations for a productive life, (thanks to all his mentors along the way). On May 9, 2018, just 6 months after his graduation, he was shot in the face and killed by some thug in his home town. Details will always be speculative and are unimportant… because he is simply just GONE now. I cannot begin to describe my thoughts and emotions at his funeral. My observations were as follows: There were probably 200 towns people including his Army National Guard unit, students, friends, and teachers to honor my son. On his behalf the Patriot Guard Riders were present who decorated the entire church property and grave area with American flags. My son and We Had Plans Chosen m. Washington 7-21-1999 - 5-9-2018 I were also honored to have two members of the Southside Maniacs MC from Houma attend to show respect, “Lightswitch” and Naomi. I really appreciated that. THANK YOU, Patriot Guard Riders, I now consider you my brothers for everything that you did for my son’s funeral, and for trucking in all the flags. - Doug Nobles State Captain, Roland Sanchez, Ride captain, and Clarke Jones our photographer… my road dawg! Also, to one of our loving models Cynthia Le ling Ling Vo, and our good friends John and Becky Swiney, and to Billy Doherty for the beautiful flowers draping the casket. PERSONAL NOTE: There was a racist and backstabbing obituary printed. It excluded ME, the father, and his total Caucasian and Mexican sides of the family. So, I would like to recognize my other two sons who were his brothers. Jason Vermillion of Ohio, and Alan Jurgen Fehn of Guadalajara Mexico. And his aunt and Uncle Rick and Marsha Picone of Ohio. (unable to mention so many others). A NOTE TO MY SON “We had big plans son, what the hell were you thinking?” LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART…DAD WRITTEN BY A LOVING FATHER ANDREW FEHN Publisher Thunder Roads LA/MS.
