Some of our older readers have been telling us about their failed attempts to land a job and we decided to compile a list of tips and tricks to help your odds at getting hired.
.Look tidy, you would be surprised how much the way you look impacts your chances at getting a job. Image is everything in today's society and if you rock up to your interview looking like a bum then your odd ps won't exactly be in your favour.
.Speak clearly and with respect, we all love our slang but when it comes time to take an interview make sure you speak with a clear voice, proper grammar and in a respectable form.
.Create a resume, a good resume can really put you ahead of the pack in the eyes of the employer. Make sure you mention any past experience you might have and always make a nice list of all the positive qualities that you have that may be helpful to the establishment in question.
.Keep a clean online presence, you'd be surprised how much an employer can find out about you in just a quick google search. Your Facebook profile is a big one that employers like to scope out just to get an idea of the type of person you are. Don't have any photos of yourself holding a bottle of booze with your mates at the club, or post half naked photos of yourself looking like you've lost your clothes. These things can be big factors in the employers analysis of your application.
.Dress to impress, wearing a good suit or a collar shirt with a tie can really give you the edge that you need. It makes you look respectable and intelligent. Walking into an interview wearing a hoody and jeans may make it look like your not serious about the offer and therefore would make you appear as a less attractable option.
.Just be yourself! , trust in the fact that you have a good character and be confident when you sit an interview. If you feel good about your chances then it really does radiate towards the employer. However it's important to not be cocky or arrogant, nothing could be worse. Be humble and be assured. Show them that you are willing to take on any challenge and display the qualities that you would usually show when taking to a close friend, nice and natural.
