COVER STORY: HOGAN FAMILY
Q: In the Hogan family what
position does everyone play?
A: Definitely Mommy is the
Disciplinarian and the motivator.
Daddy is the leader. Shaiann is the
jokester while Devin is the mellow
child.
Q: Now you have to explain a little
bit about why Mommy is the
disciplinarian because we usually
view Dads as the disciplinarian.
A: Mommy is the disciplinarian
because she’s home with the kids
more because Daddy works outside
of the home. They adopted this
because the kids would try to go to
Dad to supersede what Mom has
already said. Mommy and Daddy
had to have a chat and realize what
was going on and now it’s clear
that Mom’s word is it.
Q: How important is faith in the
Hogans household?
A: Faith is how we get through.
Faith is the only reason why we are
still here today after 14 years of
marriage, knowing that at 3 years of
marriage divorce was an option.
Every morning Toushanta ensures
that she spends time praying in the
car. Kevin is also an active member
of their church community. It
wasn’t always this way, as he use to
not even want to go to church. We
attribute all of our happiness,
blessings and success due to our
faith and God taking care of us.
FAITH IS
HOW WE
GET
THROUGH!
Q: Do the Hogans operate with
traditional gender roles?
A: Before having kids, we use to
operate in traditional gender roles
but soon after, we have learned to
tag team to get the job done. There
are moments when mommy has to
take the car to get serviced, and
moments when Daddy has to take
the kids to their doctors
appointments and / or cheer
practice. With hectic schedules,
we've managed to maintain the
household by just stepping in on
any given occasion an it has been
working great for us.
Q: What are the greatest challenges
the Hogan Family faces?
A: The greatest challenges for our
family are our schedules. We are so
busy, with Devin in basketball,
Shaiann in cheer, that's busy in
itself.
