LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER
National Single Parent Day is actually a real day, who would have thought that there would be a day honoring single parents. A few years ago I discovered National Single Parent Day as I was researching single moms. Although, I found the day I didn’ t find many celebrations of the day or even acknowledgement. Well, of course that wasn’ t going to work for me, so every year since I learned of this day I have been trying different ways to celebrate it. This year I think I may have started something by first dedicating the magazine to its celebration but also with the Single Mom Takeover and the National Single Parent Day Meet-ups. I want to encourage all single parents around the world to use this day not as a bashing of the other parent but as a day of celebration and encouragement for all the hard work you put in. Let us come together on this day and during this month to build our communities and villages, to work together and create the change we seek throughout our communities.
The Single Mom Takeover is hosted by me and two THRIVING Single Mom Advocates Audrey Renee of Dear Single Mommy and Vanetia Fahie of La Femme. Together we interviewed 15 amazing single moms in celebration of National Single Parent Day and to inspire and empower other single moms around the world.
