Another Valentine’ s Day... By Toria Simmons

Another Valentine’ s Day has come around, me and my homeboys always go out to the clubs, pick up a few honeys and have a great time, sitting in front my 70 inch smart TV playing my PS4.
“ Doorbell rings”, walking over to the door.“ That will be 40 $ sir”.
“ Hold on”. I reached in my pocket and pulled out 50 $,“ thanks dude, have a great night”.
Closing the door, I walked over to the dining room table, grabbed two wine glasses, sat down and started eating, looking over at the wine glass, thinking out loud,“ I wish I had a Valentine, man it sucks being twenty seven with no love in my life”.
I continued eating my grub, pouring wine in one of my glass, as I made a vow to myself.“ I vow next year around the same time I would have my women sitting, at the table with me celebrating Valentine’ s Day”.
That night I tossed and turn in bed wishing I would meet the love of my life and feeling lost and lonely for the first time, loving someone hit me hard, I got up out of bed pondering back and forth, man( smh) I need a shower, a few minutes later I found myself in the bathroom turned on the shower faucet, looking in the mirror at my chocolate broad shoulders, six pack of handsomeness.
I went back and laid in bed until my alarm clock went off, finally it was time for me to get ready for work, leaving the house I would stop by the coffee shop to get my favorite hot coco, walking up to the counter, not paying attention this beautiful lady almost knocked me over.
“ Excuse me, hun, I’ m in a rush”.
I looked over at her, she gave me a grin.“ Get in line I was next lady”.
She wanted to hit me from the look on her face, she just stood there and didn’ t say a word, and she stood behind me just as quite as a mouse.
I turned to her,“ Do you work on Peachtree Street?”
“ No and why are you talking to me?”
I turned back around as the cashier leaned over to pass me my drink, I walked by her looking back to see if she noticed me looking. She never turned around, she was beautiful, tall, caramel complexion, long flowing hair and had on this sexy outfit. Before I could turn my keys, she hoped in a silver Range Rover, I wanted to follow her, but would seem like a stalker, she drove off in the wind, left me in a daze.
I immediately called my friend to let him now I seen the love of my life, he laughed at me, weeks went by and every morning before I went to work I would stop by the coffee shop just to see if I would see her one more time …
My girlfriends would always tease me about never having a Valentine, which to me wasn’ t a big thing, I had my job, house, money, I didn’ t need a man in my life. I knew one day I would find one but now isn’ t the right time. I have deadlines to meet and people to sign contracts with. My girlfriend Zoe finally found her true love and she is always hitting me up.
Cell phone rings...“ Hey girl!”
“ I’ m just leaving the coffee shop, on my way to work; I sure will stop by to see you, girl before you hang up, I was in the the coffee shop one day and this handsome guy bumps right into me and didn’ t say excuse me, then had the nerve to tell me get behind him in line. I was so speechless I couldn’ t say a word back to him”.
“ Really honey, you should have got his number”.
“ Really Zoe?”
“ Yes really, that could have been your match”“ did you just hear what I said? He was not paying me any attention Aand I bet he didn’ t look back at me as he walked off”.
