RULE # 6: MAKE MONEY AS YOU GO Got skills? Get a job! Yes, it?s really that easy! What? Did you think you were going to be panhandling to get around? Well, you might actually end up doing that too. But, the ideal situation is to get a job and make some good money for a bit. Know your Visa rules and regulations though, working for an extended period of time will usually require a working visa. It costs a bit more than the typical 30-day visas, but its well worth it considering the consequences. Immigration officersdon?t take kindly to misinformed travelers. There are opportunities to make an extra buck just about anywhere you go! Teach English in Thailand, pick wine grapes in Italy, volunteer at a children?s orphanage in Tanzania, or Au Pair in New Zealand! These are only a few of the very likely, and accessible possibilities to consider on the road. Anytime, anywhere, there is always something available! RULE # 7: LEARN FROM LOCALS Simply said, locals always know best! I mean really, this rule trumps the Internet in terms of useful information! With an established wealth of knowledge, solidified by a lifetime of residency, they can provide a comfortable interpretation of your new surroundings. Everything from local delicacies and cultural history, to ancient traditions, enjoyable hobbies and bequeathed techniques. This is where you begin to discover enlightenment within a new perspective. Something you simply can not unobtainable with your hands and your hands alone. These are the ones who make traveling to a new place exotic and special. As visitors, bring a smile and be respectful! RULE # 8: FIND A FREE MEAL This isn?t always easy to do, but it is possible. You just have to know where to look! Supermarkets for one, often throw out tons of fresh produce every single day! Most of it is perfectly good fruits and vegetables! Just be conscious of your selection. 14 THOSE WHO WANDER Getting sick from something rotten or spoiled would only be counter-productive at the end of the day. Otherwise, go ahead and dive in! If your looking for a step up from dumpster diving, you can always try a smaller ?family style? restaurant. At closing time, they will usually throw out any left overs too! Ask nicely, they might hook you up a meal, or more likely, six! No one likes to see good food gone to waste! One final option is to volunteer! Volunteering is a great way to get a few meals in you for the day, maybe even earn a bit of spending cash if
