Our student body is substantially more diverse than most boarding schools, as are our course offerings. We offer more classes in the arts, sciences, and languages than most other schools, and more athletic teams and extracurricular activities to choose from as well. Students with varying interests and academic goals can truly shape their future at Thornton Academy.
For more than two centuries, we have pursued our mission of“ preparing students for a changing world” by keeping our eyes focused on the future, without losing sight of the past. Our teachers stay at the forefront of exciting teaching and learning techniques to improve the student experience. Our flexible and comprehensive academic program ignites a passion for discovery with more than 200 courses in eight different academic departments, including 26 AP classes and more than 40 honors classes. Each of our 1400 + students develop a unique schedule that meets their particular academic needs and goals.
