Inside these pages , you ’ ll find class offerings that range from Grade 6 Writing to Advanced Placement Psychology . Our teachers are committed to providing the best experience for students , building on a foundation of excellence established in 1811 . This foundation of excellence is one reason why so many students from across the region and around the world join those from our hometown of Saco each year .
In addition to the diversity in our student body , Thornton Academy is recognized for the breadth and depth of our courses .
• We offer 26 Advanced Placement ( AP ) classes , the most of any school in the state .
• Students can take college-level courses for credit . This gives you a head-start on undergraduate requirements while also saving the high cost of a college class .
• We offer more than 40 honors classes .
• Students can also choose from six world languages .
Thornton Academy also offers an exceptional Arts program and outstanding athletic teams , along with dozens of after-school clubs and activities , from Robotics to French Club . I encourage you to join a club that allows you to pursue a passion or to try one that introduces you to a new interest .
