FROM THE HEADMASTER

Dear Alumni , Parents , and Friends of Thornton Academy ,

At Thornton Academy , students are encouraged to step outside their comfort zones , to try courses that challenge and intrigue them , and to deep dive into subjects that spark curiosity . Engagement continues after-school , through many clubs , activities , community service , and athletics . As Headmaster , it is not only a joy to witness what our students are learning and how they are contributing to our community while here at TA , but the real excitement begins as they leave our hallways and we get to watch them grow and become who they want to be .
In this edition of Postscripts you will read about TA alumni who have found success in a wide variety of professions - following their passions in art , music , science , farming , and the armed services . Beyond these doors , they have pursued their passions and serve as an inspiration and reminder to our current students that the possibilities for their futures are endless .
This academic year continues to present unique challenges and opportunities as we respond to the recommendations and restrictions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic .
Once again , our students and faculty have found creative solutions to maintain engagement outside of the normal classroom setting . Learning , connecting , and relationship building can not only survive but thrive when fueled by a strong desire to make the most out of a challenging situation and keep moving forward .
I am thankful for those who support TA , our students and our faculty , in all ways . It has truly taken a village to keep our Thornton community strong amidst the difficult circumstances and continuous uncertainties . The generosity of those who have made gifts to the Thornton Fund have truly made a huge impact at a time when TA and our students need it most . From the Free Breakfast and Lunch Program for food insecure students , to helping provide internet access to our most vulnerable students , your support makes a difference each and every day .
Please take care and stay safe .
