Thornton Academy Middle School Celebrates its 10th Year TATV Broadens Reach With Live Streaming Thornton Academy TV now “live streams” the upper school’s graduations, concerts, and athletic contests. On January 9, 2016, TATV live streamed its first Thornton Academy Middle School event—girls and boys basketball games between TAMS and Saco Middle School. This was the tenth anniversary of this competition, known as the City of Saco Challenge. TATV Station Manager and teacher Mr. Jeff Christenbury ‘03 said, “Live streaming is an expanding technology that Thornton Academy TV has embraced. The ability to provide live programming to our parents, alumni and community members in high definition all over the world is an invaluable opportunity.” BY EMMA DEANS The Middle School Brings The Lion King to Campus Bill uses a controller to fly the drone and views its location on an iPad with a sun shield. 26 Over sixty Thornton Academy Middle School students will perform and assist behind the scenes for the 2016 spring musical The Lion King, which is directed and choreographed by Camille Saucier ’88 with additional choreography by Devan Landry. Students in Mr. Dracup’s Art Club have been working diligently to create props for the production. Performances will be May 4th and 5th at 7 PM in Garland Auditorium (in addition to a day show for local students). Tickets can be purchased at the door or via a TAMS student ($5 adults & $4 senior/students). The show will feature favorite songs like “Circle of Life” and “Just Can’t Wait to Be King” with amazing costumes and choreography.
