Message from the Alumni Board President
by David LePauloue ’84
It has been a busy 6 months for the Thornton Academy Alumni Association! We started the 2009/2010
school year with a bang, by hosting the annual Senior
Alumni Banquet. This event welcomes any TA alumnus who graduated more than 50 years ago. We’re very
proud to say that this year’s banquet attracted more
than 300 alums back to campus. What a great way to
start the year!
Since then, we have participated in: the Alumni
Sports Hall of Fame ceremony; Homecoming (where we
hosted an alumni tent); Bell Ringing; Children’s Winter
Carnival; and Mary’s Walk. Many of these events take
place annually, so keep your eyes open for next year’s
calendar to participate in any of these worthwhile gatherings.
One of the priorities for the Alumni Board this
year is to evaluate our current structure and to make
any necessary adjustments before
the start of the 2010/2011 school
year. To that end, we met for a half
day session on February 6th. We
discussed a multitude of subjects David LePauloue ’84
including: mission statement; committee structure; meeting schedule;
and expanding participation.
One specific change that will take place immediately is to create an Alumni Association Reunion Committee. This committee will be designed to support the
TA staff in any way we can to help give classes the
necessary tools to plan their reunions. We know that
reunions are very important to our alums, so this committee is a way of supporting that important function.
Stay tuned for more changes as the Board continues to
discuss the many ideas suggested on February 6th.
